Over the weekend I finished the quilting on the baby quilt I'm working on as well as attached the binding. Now I just need to make the label tonight and applique that, and it will be all ready to give to my friend and her precious baby boy :-D.
Here's what the label will say:
“Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD” Psalm 127:3a
Stitched with Love and Prayers for
………………………..
Born November 2005
You are a precious gift from God and a wonderful answer to many prayers. As you grow may you love the Lord and serve Him with all gladness of heart and may the Lord keep thee and bless thee all the days of thy life.
With much love and many prayers,

I am so excited to be finished and only have to label the quilt. I can't wait to give it to momma and baby. I promise I'll take pictures this evening of the quilt and the label and will post them this week :-D.

Got called into Work last night - not much accomplished
Well, they called me into work last night to cover for a guy out of town due to family/medical needs, so I was not able to accomplish all my quilting goals.
I did get the blue, green, yellow, and white fabric purchased for the PLQB swap as well as a blue and a red to go with the cowboy fabric. I did not get to wash any fabric .... if I get straight home after church tonight, I hope to get that done (so no early bedtime for me).
I did get all the stray threads knotted off for the flannel baby quilt as well as finishing the inner border quilting. I've got it trimmed down to size and I hope to get the binding and label attached tonight.
I did not get any denim or sashing cut for R's quilt :-(.

Tuesday's Quilting
Well, I plan on finally finishing the flannel blue and white baby quilt I've been working on the past few weeks. Between my two jobs, I just haven't had time to finish it. However, tonight is my evening off from church and my second job, so quilting here I come :-). I'm going to stop at the quilt store on my way home to pick up some more fabric. I need blue, green, yellow, white for a swap I'm doing in March. I also think I'm going to pick up a blue or red to go with the cowboy print I got at the Fabric Shack over the weekend. I got a green to go with it, but now that I'm thinking (I know, scary thought sometimes, lol), it needs another color. Plus I'm just not too happy with the design I had in mind. If I get a blue or red, I can do a double 4-patch design, which I think I'll like better.
Tuesday's Quilting Goals:
1. Purchase blue/green & yellow/white fabric for 18 12" blocks for PLQB swap coming up next month.
2. Purchase a blue or red to go with cowboy and green fabric.
3. Cold-water wash fabric for swap and cowboy baby quilt and flannel purchased last week for the special baby :-D & dry & lightly press.
4. Finish quilting on blue and white flannel quilt and get binding attached to front. Maybe even finish it so I can gift it tomorrow night at church.
5. Cut scrap denim clothing into 8 1/2" blocks for R's quilt and crazy piece scraps into squares also.
6. Cut R's sashing out.
Hmm, will I have time to eat? That is the question, lol :-D. I think I like Tuesdays. I'll be happy when my seasonal job ends and I can have my evenings free again (like they ever actually were - I always find way too much to do :-P).

Nope - not last night either
Still no quilting done last night. Didn't get home until after 10 from my 2nd job and just wanted a few minutes to sit and veg :-D. The big weekend's coming up - I get to go to my cousin's fabric store :-)

No Quilting Last night
Last night my S.S. class played Vball against the Couples ... we won :-D. It was close though. By the time I got home I didn't have the energy to quilt. This morning when I was showering I noticed I had some dirt on my thumb (how it got there, I couldn't tell ya), but after scrubbing it still wouldn't come off. When I got out and put my glasses on, I realized it's a yucky bruise from the Vball game last night, lol. It's just a little tender, but doesn't actually hurt or impede my working ability. Hopefully I'll finish the quilting part of L's baby quilt tonight :-D.

Baby Quilts
Well, it's official ... I can say it ... the special little baby that's coming is gonna be my neice or nephew :-D. I'm thinking about making baby bunting quilt (from http://www.quilterscache.com) with flannel - using pastel blues, greens, yellows, pinks (in other words, for either a boy or girl). I plan on making a couple of quilts for this special little person. As of now, they're thinking about either doing sports (if a boy) or butterflies (if a girl), so the second quilt will be done in the desired theme once we know boy or girl. Who knows, I may get a third one made by the time he or she comes. Or maybe a 4th. or a 5th, lol.
As for the baby quilt I'm working on - I got the center finished last night. I am almost finished (about 7/8) with the inner border .... but my bobbin ran out of thread and as I posted earlier under "One Shouldn't Cut Late At Night", I decided that was my signal to go to bed last night - it was after 11, I think. Tonight I plan on finishing the quilting. I just have a little bit to do on the inner border and then on the outer border I am just doing parallel lines around the inner border. I hope to also get the binding cut and ready tonight.

Update on the Baby Quilt
I rebasted the baby quilt last night and got the first part of it machine quilted :-). I actually don't have any plans for tonight :-D other than stay at home, so I hope to have the rest of it, or at least most of it anyway, machine quilted before I go to bed (and I might even get to bed early :-D). I'll post a pic of it when I get it finished :-D.

Finished the Top
Well, I've got my top finished for the baby quilt that I'm working on (the blue and white flannel one). I pinned it this morning so I could start machine quilting it tonight --- alas, I didn't have the backing smoothed out and taunt enough when I did it :-(. I need to redo it tonight after I get home - I might be able to get a little machine quilted tonight though.
I found out on Friday I've got to get going on some very special baby quilts - at least I've got about 36-38 weeks notice anyway, lol. Considering it's a very special baby, I hope to make at least 2 quilts to welcome him or her into the world :-D.

One Shouldn't Cut Late At NIght
Last night after getting home from work I cut some strips I had pieced together. They were suppose to be cut into 7 1/2" rows ... well, 3 made it, 2 did not. I ended up cutting 2 as 6 1/2" rows. Oh well, guess I need to trim down the 7 1/2" rows to 6 1/2" and will just have 7" X 6" finished rectangles .... lesson learned: One Shouldn't Cut Late at Night :-D.

Current Works in Progress -2/2/06
If this blog is to be about quilting, I guess I should add what I'm currently working on.
1. I have a purple and white Baby quilt in the hoop, halfway hand quilting. The baby I intended it for is now about 6 months old, lol. I haven't touched the quilt in about 5 months :-(.
2. I am in the middle of piece a blue and white flannel baby quilt for a baby that is about 3 months old. I'm going to machine quilt that. Hopefully I'll finish it this weekend :-D.
3. Women of the Bible Quilt (WOBQ) I am working on a one-year devotional and quilt over 52 Women of the Bible. Each week we study a different woman and make a quilt block that relates to her somehow (usually the name of the block is symbolic to something in the woman's life and/or character and/or name). I've got two blocks finished, a third partially cut out, and we're already into week 4.
4. Bed Quilt for a very special friend - I got the backing and sashing fabrics at the store the other night. Both are her favorite color and the backing has "Jesus Loves Me" on it. The sashing will go between scrappy denim squares. I've started cutting the denim, but that's it.
5. I've got the fabric and pattern ready to start on a Sampler of Psalms Quilt as well as a coordinating Wallhanging quilt based on Psalm 23. It will be purple, blue, and green (light to medium colors of each) for my bed and above my bed.
6. I've got fabric to make placemats for me and others for presents (Christmas, Bday, etc.) Hopefully I'll get those done :-D.
7. I've got two Christmas tops (wallhanging size) - one is just a panel and the other is a Manger Quilt top I got off Ebay. I need to quilt those both for next year :-D.
8. Swaps - I need to cut and sew 18 blocks for a 9-Patch swap I am participating in. Those are due by the end of March.
That's all for now :-D!!!!

First Post
Well, I've done it, I finally created a blog. I had told myself I would never do such a thing, but to comment at another site (I really wanted to comment) , I had to set up an account. I figured since I have an account, I may as well started blogging. We'll see how much I keep this up, lol :-D
